Seed Sowers empowers inmates with weekly training in spiritual growth and teach the inmate how to have an intimate relationship with God through daily Bible reading and prayer and life. They learn how to recognize the influence of Satan in their lives and how to use the Word of God to overcome Satan's schemes. Finally, we teach them how to share the transforming power of Christ with those around them.
In Ephesians 6:12, we learn that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Then in II Corinthians 10:3-4, we learn that “though we walk according to the flesh we do not war according to the flesh." The word says that "the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses."
These inmates are not battling drug and alcohol addiction; they are battling Satan. Addiction is just the weapon Satan is using against them. So how do they overcome? How do they defeat Satan? How in the world do they break free from the bondage of addiction? The answer is simple: by being trained to use their weapon, the word.
In John 8:31-32, Jesus was saying to some people who were following Him, "IF you CONTINUE in the WORD you will know the TRUTH and the TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!" Yes, these inmates can be FREE! Free of addiction, free of bitterness, free of guilt, free of depression, free from the bondage of Satan!!
A person may ask, "Why is there so much spiritual warfare? Why is Satan trying to destroy testimonies?" The answer is more simple than one may think. Satan's motive for his path of destruction is that the lost will not come to know Christ as their Savior. If he can get us depressed, addicted and enslaved to him, then we will not live a life for Christ and we will not reach out to a dying and lost world.
When a student goes through our classes, they quickly move from being babies in Christ to disciples of Christ. But our desire is to create soldiers for Christ! Romans 10:13-15 says, "Whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him who they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent?"
Seed Sowers is training up soldiers for Christ by training our advanced students how to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many behind bars that will never walk in to a church service or religious class. Inmates are being used by God to reach other inmates for Jesus Christ!
Currently, Seed Sowers is focusing on female inmates, but we look forward to the day God leads men to begin the male branch of our prison ministry. If you are a man and have experience with prison ministry, we'd love to talk to you about starting men’s branch of our prison ministry!
We also desire to spread our organization across the state of Texas as a result of churches adopting our prison ministry. Hebrews 13:3 says, "Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." The majority of our churches today have forgotten about those in prison. If you are a church leader and do not have a prison ministry, we would love to partner with you and help your church reach this challenging segment of society. Please contact us today!
